Inmate texting apps are a great way to keep in touch with a loved one or friend who is currently behind bars. These apps are designed to comply with prison regulations which allow family and friends to send messages, pictures, video calls, eCards and even money to their trust accounts at prison. There are additional federal inmate apps that offer additional services, like phone calls and video visits.
JPay lets, for instance, family and friends to transfer money directly into an inmate's trust account as well as text inmate videos, emails, photos and eCards. It also lets users create personalized postcards with their own images. It also provides a safer and more secure alternative to traditional postal mail.
Another popular inmate text app is GettingOut It provides "simple and reliable communication" between inmates and their loved ones. The app, which is available in select correctional facilities, lets inmates upload photos and message their family and friends on their tablets. Inmates pay $0.25 per message and their loved ones pay costs for accessing the data (but there are no explicit images). You can also use the GettingOut app to post images on Facebook or Foursquare and check-in on Foursquare and then include a video in a YouTube upload.
